LEARNING DAILY
Psalm 119:123-127, My eyes fail from seeking Your
salvation and Your righteous Word. Deal with Your servant according to Your
mercy and teach me Your statutes. I am Your servant; give me
understanding that I may know Your testimonies [statutes, laws, decrees]. It
is time for You to act, O Lord, for they
have regarded Your law as void. Therefore, I love Your commandments more than
gold, yes, than fine gold!
I am going to make a few more comments today about yesterday’s
blog.
“My eyes fail from seeking Your salvation and
Your righteous Word.” I might be wrong, but it seems to me that Believers
are eagerly waiting God’s deliverance in their hearts. The psalmist longed for
the salvation of God; he must have spent time in God’s Word. He did not have the
New Testament to read and study; if he did, he may have been longing for the
return of Jesus as the conquering King, coming to establish His kingdom on
earth. The world he lived in was a difficult time just as the world is evil and
difficult today. As a Believer are you diligently living as Jesus wants you to and
watching for His return? Do you “love God’s commands more than gold,” as
the psalmist proclaims? Is your plea that of the psalmist when he states, “give
me understanding that I may know Your testimonies?”
“It is time for You to act, O Lord, for they
have regarded Your law as void.” The world Believers live in today is
marked by injustice and moral relativism. Moral relativism is the philosophical
view that moral ideas of what is right and wrong is a matter of individual
ideas. That pretty much describes the world Believers live in today. Those who
have decided that biblical truth is no longer absolute have decided they can
decide for themselves what is right and wrong, good and evil. In my household,
we are discussing which political candidates to vote for; we have decided that
President Trump is endorsing all of them according to their advertisements. Who
is telling the truth? He cannot be endorsing them all!
To many, the Bible is an outdated book, no longer applying
to the world Believers live in. Those who believe that are destined to find out
they are wrong! Believers are to stand firm in and on God’s truth serving as a
light of truth and righteousness! Stand strong against every wrong idea that tries
to get them to deviate from the commands of God’s Word! The words of Psalm
119:121-128 are timeless truths that Believers must hold on to today. They call
Believers to live lives grounded in righteousness, justice, and a deep love for
God’s Word. Be encouraged and challenged to prioritize God’s commandments above
all else. When you do and hold on to God’s Word and seek to live according to
His will your life will reflect the wisdom, righteousness, and the goodness you
have embraced and held tightly to!
