LEARNING DAILY

Revelation 19:11-13, Then I saw heaven opened, and a white horse was standing there.  And the One sitting on the horse was named Faithful and True.  For He judges fairly and then goes to war.  His eyes were bright like flames of fire and on His head were many crowns.  A name was written on Him and only He knew what it meant.  He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and his title was the Word of God.   John the Revelator (From the New Living Translation)

We celebrate the lowly “birth of a child, a son is given to us” at Christmas – the first advent.   His return will be seen by all people; He comes as the King of kings and Lord of lords – the second advent.  He comes from heaven as the Warrior-Messiah to establish truth and justice, to judge the nations and to wage war against evil.  This is the long-awaited event that all true and faithful Believers for generations have watched and been ready for.  Just as the child’s birth at Christmas fulfilled all the prophesies spoken, Jesus Christ will fulfill all the remaining prophesies not yet fulfilled.  This second coming will see Him as the Conquering King accompanied with the armies of heaven.

This second advent will be a very different time.  Everyone celebrates Christmas.  Gifts are exchanged, cards of joy and peace are sent out, and time off from school is looked forward to.  Merchants will have a profitable year if lots of money is spent.  The Christmas joy we celebrate is enjoyed by all people of all faiths and beliefs.  Sadly, the Christmas celebration for most people has little to do with the child born in Bethlehem two thousand years ago.  By contrast, the second coming will be quite different; the second coming will be a fearful, mournful time for the wicked, those who have failed to place their faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.  They will have to bow before Him and acknowledge He is Lord.  But, for the righteous it will be a glorious and wonderful time of peace and joy.  The second advent will usher in a thousand-year period of time known as the Millennium.

Christmas should be in our heart every day.  The Savior of the world has come to give eternal life to whosoever would believe in Him.  God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son to die on a cross for the sins committed by each and every person who would give their life in faith to Him.   Each one who does should live their life in expectation of his return.
