LEARNING DAILY

Romans 3:21-26, But now God has shown us a different way of being right in His sight – not by obeying the law but by the way promised in the Scriptures long ago.  We are made right in God’s sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins.  And we all can be saved in the same way, no matter who we are or what we have done.  For all have sinned; all fall short of God’ glorious standard.  Yet now God in His gracious kindness declares us not guilty.  He has done this through Christ Jesus, who has freed us by taking away our sins. For God sent Jesus to take the punishment for our sins and to satisfy God’s anger against us.  We are made right with God when we believe that Jesus shed His blood, sacrificing His life for us.  God has been entirely fair and just when He did not punish those who sinned in former times.  And He is entirely fair and just in this present time when He declares sinners to be right in His sight because they believe in Jesus.       (from the New Living Translation)

This is a longer portion of Scripture than normal.  This passage summarizes a very important portion of the Gospel of God in just a few words.  Now, go back and read it again before you continue reading this page of the blog.

If you read Romans 3 to this point you will see Paul presents a really negative view of humanity’s sinfulness; the point being made that everyone needs the saving grace of God.  In the verses above, he presents the good news (the best news ever!) of God’s grace, forgiveness, and Christ’s redemption.  Reading the rest of Romans, Paul emphasizes justification by grace through faith, and the assurance we have, victory over sin.

In these verses, the righteousness of God is shown in His redemptive power.  When a person declares his sinfulness and gives it over to Christ, He declares us free from the power of evil and God puts us in a right relationship with Himself.  This is a free gift from God through Jesus Christ.

I want to emphasize truths concerning the death of Christ.  He died as an offering or sacrifice for all who would come to His saving grace.  Jesus suffered and died as a penalty for our sins, as our substitute.  His death on the cross satisfied God’s righteous nature and His moral order; this removed His wrath from each repentant sinner.  The integrity of God required that sin be punished and appeasement be made for our sake.  Through the blood of Christ, God’s holiness remained uncompromised and was able to justify His grace and love in salvation.  Christ’s death was victorious over the powers of sin, Satan, and liberated us from the demonic host that hold the human race in bondage.  Be sure to understand this is for all people who through faith accept Jesus Christ and His death for them.  (From the notes on these verse in The Life in the Spirit Study Bible).

It is so important for each of us to understand this teaching and not be confused!  This promise is for only those who believe in Jesus Christ.  It is the Good News of the Bible and to all who believe!  Fear God and stay in a right relationship with Him by walking on the narrow way that leads to His Kingdom and eternal life.  Walking through the narrow gate (Jesus} is only the beginning.  Staying on the narrow way and growing in knowledge and maturity in Him is a matter of sanctification (Like reading the blog each day could help.).
