LEARNING DAILY

Habakkuk 1:13, You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and You cannot look on wickedness.

Before we continue the study on The Revelation, it is important to examine something about God.  God is holy and He is angry at the evil in this world.  Our sinfulness is an insult to His holiness!  The Bible says mankind is without excuse for the negative stuff they do because God has revealed  Himself through creation since the beginning (Romans 1:19-20).  Here is the problem.  God has spoken but we have not listened.  He hates anything and everything that tries to keep the knowledge of the truth from being known.  Max Lucado wrote, “This does not mean that he flies into a rage or loses His temper or is emotionally unpredictable.  It means simply that He loves you and hates what you become when you turn from Him.” From the book In The Grip of Grace).

You are probably wondering where I am going with this as we begin The Revelation.  How does it relate?  Stay with me.  God is going to deal with the sin in this world.  It is not our responsibility to deal with the sinner; that’s God’s responsibility.  You and I are to hate the sin, to despise evil.  Oh, how I would like to deal with the sinner at times – especially when my family is directly affected!  There must be others who feel the same way.  Be honest.  Isn’t there some self-satisfaction when we put on that judge’s robe to judge others as guilty?  Does it not make us look a little better when we compare ourselves to the evil people around us?

The problem for me is when brought face to face with God’s standard I am brought face to face with all the times God’s GRACE has forgiven me.  I am forced to remember Romans 3:12 that states, “There is no one who does anything good”.  Which one of us can meet God’s standard for righteousness?  No one can!  None of us knows enough about a person or circumstance to make any type of judgment.

We are being told today that there re many different ways to get to heaven; most of them are man’s efforts to do good and work their way into heaven.  The Bible is very clear that this self-salvation does not work – man cannot save himself!  But God has offered a way that will not fail.  God’s way is His free gift to man.  “For God so loved the world that He sent His Son….” (John 3:16).  Clearly there is no negotiation here; It God’s terms or nothing.  It is His free gift to whosoever would believe!

God is going to deal with the sinfulness of this world.  For those who believe in the salvation God offers through His Son’s death and resurrection there is hope.  I have wrestled with God for some time about this idea of GRACE.  I have  many questions I need to have answers to.   I do not claim to fully understand GRACE but I have put my hope in it.  I am determined to continue to let the Lord Jesus Christ deal with the sinner and I am going to deal with the sin part.

Okay, I might not yet be clear to you in the direction I’m going.  Let me go further with the idea of GRACE in the next page of the blog.  For now, take a few minutes to consider what the GRACE of God has done for you!
