LEARNING DAILY

Revelation 16:1, Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the bowls of wrath of God on the world.”

Revelation 16:2, The first bowl – “and a foul and loathsome sore came upon the men who had the mark of the beast and those who worshipped his image.”

Revelation 16: 3, The second bowl - “on the sea, and it became blood as of a dead man and every living creature in the sea died.”

Revelation 16:4, The third bowl - “on the rivers and springs of water and they became blood.”

Revelation 16:8, The fourth bowl – “on the sun and power was given to him (the angel) to scorch men with fire.”  Verse 9 that those scorched with fire blasphemed God and did not repent.

Revelation 16:10, the fifth bowl – “on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became full of darkness; and they gnawed on their tongues because of the pain.”  They also blasphemed God and did not repent of their deeds.

Revelation 16:12, the sixth bowl – Poured out on the great river Euphrates, and its waters dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared.”  The kings of the earth were led to a place known in the Hebrew as Armageddon.

Revelation 16:17, the seventh bowl – “poured into the air and a loud voice came out of the temple in heaven, from the throne saying, ‘It is done!’”

This reads a lot like the plagues on Egypt when Moses was sent to deliver God’s people!  And, just like Pharaoh hardened his heart, those in the Tribulation blasphemed God and did not repent.  Even in the midst of God’s terrible judgments, men and women chose to live in sin and rebellion against the righteousness of God!  God in these judgments is still desiring the people repent – the only thing that would stop these judgments.

God’s desire is for all people to repent of their sinful life and live in righteousness with Him.  Sadly, many many people refuse to do so.  Instead, they choose to live in their unrighteousness.  People have convinced themselves they are good and do not need a Savior.  They have chosen to believe that there is no hell.  Even if there was, the God of love would send no one there.  They refuse to see God as a righteous Judge as well.  But the study of The Revelations shows that His judgment is coming upon those who live in unrighteousness.  The only chance for these people is to escape judgment as we see in this study is to repent and follow Him.

There is more to explain regarding the sixth and seventh bowl.
