LEARNING DAILY
I am writing a different kind of blog this morning. A while back we were visiting with our good
friends Jim and Cindy. They have been
watching a television series on YouTube called television The Chosen and
suggested we watch it. We decided to do
just that and have enjoyed it very much.
I am suggesting that you take time to find it and watch it as well. Besides the television, it can be found by
downloading it as an “app” and watch in that way. It is well worth the time and effort to find
the series and follow it. I have laughed
and had a few tears drop; it is not like any other “movie” about Jesus. Watch it and decide for yourself! Here are a few reasons I enjoy it.
I really enjoy how Jesus is
presented. There is all the seriousness
of the Bible in Him. His love is
certainly shown in His interaction with people and their needs. There is something different about the way this
interaction is presented that stirs my emotions as I watch Bible stories and
teaching brought to life. It might be
the reactions of those Jesus touches, the need(s) He deals with that grips my
heart. But there is the element of His
humanity that is shown; we often forget that part of His life. The presentation shows the humorous side of
His interaction with His disciples and those with Him. I often forget the amount of time He spent
walking and talking with them. He is
seen joking and laughing, just enjoying being with them. How often do you hear someone say, “God must
have a sense of humor because __________?” (You fill in the blank.).
I enjoy another aspect – the disciples and their interaction with one
another. We often pass over the idea
that the disciples were not very old when Jesus told them to “follow Him”. We forget that they were working men who had
their own set of problems to overcome – both personally and with each
other. Their belief of the coming
Messiah was a military leader who would set them free from the oppression from
Rome; this did not change even as they walked with Him. Even as they walked with Jesus, they had
problems accepting Matthew, for example, who had been a tax collector. It has been fun watching Jesus speak to them
and make humorous comments to them about their beliefs and to see the
expression on His face when He speaks, shows His humanity.
The Chosen is one person’s
thoughts about the life of Jesus and His three-year ministry. It does not replace God’s Word in any
way. It does give interesting insight
and make me consider what walking with Jesus was like. It shows a little of the humanity we often
forget about as we read the Bible.
My intention with this blog has always been to encourage the reader in
their walk with the Lord. I have tried
to use sources available, books I have read and now a “Movie” to do that. Take a look at it and see if you enjoy it. If you do not get You Tube Television, look
up The Chosen on your internet browser. Let
me know what you think!
