Hebrews 11:3, By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

 

We are going to look at some beliefs that must be accepted by faith and some biblical personalities that are included in this “Hall of Fame” because of what they did because of their faith.  I encourage you to follow along in your Bile to see what you would add to the writing in this blog.  I want you to be encouraged in your faith and grow a little more as you walk on the narrow way that leads to God’s kingdom and eternal life with Him.

 

At the beginning of this verse we are told the only way to understand knowledge of what God has done and things pertaining to the spiritual realm is “by faith”.  This is so important that we are told something is done “by faith” or “through faith” eighteen times in this chapter.  Yes we can find knowledge through our five senses and our ability to reason.  But the natural mind cannot understand things given by God.  Would you agree with me?

 

Hebrews 11:3 gives a great example – man’s attempt to explain the creation of the universe and all things in it.  There is the theory that an explosion occurred and from it the universe was created, the big bang theory.  That takes a really big imagination to believe that!  Oh, and I really like the theory that Darwin gave us.  You know a one-celled ameba crawled out of the water and started to breath, eventually noticing trees and grew legs so it could go investigate.  From there it only gets better regarding the evolution into mankind.  I think that takes more faith to believe than what the Bible says about creation.

 

“Behind the physical reality of the universe lies a greater reality: the invisible God who created all things by His word” (DJSB).   How can anyone believe even this?  It cannot be understood by the natural mind; it can only be understood by a mind that has been renewed by the power of God.  It is by faith we believe and understand only God can be the designer and creator of this universe.  We are being told all the time lately to follow the science (Covid and now climate change).  How is following the science going for you?  But science cannot help us understand the creation of the universe the way that FAITH does.

 

Let me add today that because God created the universe and all that is in it, He is in control of all that is happening.  Remember the verse from Ezekiel that states God has put a hook in Magog’s mouth and is drawing him and his allies to Israel?  “Time and history are moving linearly to the goal God is bringing about.  He is manipulating the course of events, preparing for its consummation.  When that conclusion is reached, if by faith we are yielding to God, we will be prepared as he wants us to be because Hebrews 11:3 is part of our operating agenda (Forerunner Commentary). In other words, God is at work to bring about His desired results.  That is very encouraging to me; I can know by faith that God not only created the universe but that he has not left us on our own to flounder about because of the untruths we are being told about daily – well, about everything.  “By faith” I can see that what He has revealed in His written Word is coming to pass; and, because of that I can believe that what He has said about being close to me, hearing my prayers, His desire to keep nothing from me (except the time of His return) and that He cares for me is true!  Yes, Believers are to live by faith!
