John 3:17-19, “For God did not send His son into the world to condemn
the world, but that the world would through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but
he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in
the name of the only begotten Son of God.
And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world,
and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” Jesus
God sent His Son into the world in order to save it! That’s the Good News of the Bible. Believe this and acknowledge you are a sinner
and Jesus took your place on a cross and you are saved. Believing in the Son of God saves you from
being condemned to eternal damnation in hell.
That’s really great news because you and I cannot save ourselves. God loves all people – everyone – and desires
to save all. But even though God loves
everyone, not everyone accepts that love.
No, instead of embracing it they do not believe in the name of the Son
of God; they reject Him and want nothing to do with Him. In doing so they condemn themselves.
Why is the gospel of Jesus Christ rejected? It cannot be because it is difficult to
understand, it is quite clear. It seems
to me that there is a fundamental characteristic that these verses point to why
people reject Christ’s offer of salvation; people love the darkness, they find
pleasure in sin and immorality and do not want to change. There is an amazing thought here and I am so
thankful for. God’s nature is revealed
here because even in the wickedness of men, God still reaches out to them, to
save them. Read Romans 5:8, But God
demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners,
Christ died for us.” Everyone of us
has had to realize we were sinners, acknowledge it, and ask Jesus Christ to
forgive and save us. For some of us, it
has taken longer to let go of the sinful nature than others.
Those who have truly been born-again love righteousness and hate
wickedness, to the point of mourning when they see unrighteousness and
immorality. Matthew 5:4, ”Blessed are
those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” It is not even enough for the children of God
to love righteousness; they must also hate evil (Hebrews 1:9). This is achieved by growing in intimacy with
the Lord Jesus Christ who loved righteousness and hated sin.
Love the Light and seek to walk in it!
Be aware of the darkness that tries to lure you off the narrow way that
leads to God’s kingdom and eternal life.
The darkness has nothing good to offer you! Instead allow the light of Jesus to be your
guide as you seek Him. Find your joy and
peace in Jesus and you will have eternity to thank Him for what He has done for
you.
