LEARNING DAILY

Matthew 6-7, “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!  Jesus

These are interesting verses that must be read and studied with the verses from yesterday where Jesus said to enter His kingdom, one must become like a little child. Jesus added to those warning to anyone who would destroy the spirituality of a child or a childlike believer – doing so would bring on His wrath! Pastors, teachers, and especially parents should pay close attention to these words of the Lord. As parents, our responsibility is to instruct our children in the Word of God and to protect them from the influence of the world and Satan. The challenge of keeping children from being influenced by ungodly friends or predators is becoming more challenging as the end times near. Parents must be especially careful about what they allow the world to put into their children’s minds and hearts by means of education and entertainment.

I am concerned about what I see and hear about our educational system today. After 49 years of working in some form of education, I am not able to believe what I see on the news regarding school boards and lawmakers saying that parents have no right to be involved with what their children are being taught in school. What? I see that parents who speak out against an ungodly agenda in their schools arrested and labeled as terrorists. What? I read where kindergarteners are being told that boys are not boys and girls are not girls; they can change who God made them to be and given opportunities to make that change. What? Each of you reading this has seen the news and what is being taught young and impressionable children.

Jesus said, “Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!”  What is being taught over and over to children is an offense that is going to bring judgment. He was clear in His warning to His disciples that they (and we) must avoid being any kind of stumbling blocks to the faith of any little one. I wonder if the Lord Jesus Christ had today in mind when He spoke these words!?

I believe Jesus’ teaching includes Believers of any age as well. His warning extends to anyone who attempts to place stumbling blocks in front of any Believer in order for him or her to step off the narrow way. Stumbling blocks could include a multitude of things. Let me just remind you of things to be watchful for: worldly entertainment, teaching that promotes worldly or humanistic beliefs, pornography, drugs, false teaching, anything that tempts you to follow Satan.  Stay away from such things! “Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!”

Each of us must remove all things from our lives and our families that might lead others into temptation. We must be diligent in our walk on the narrow way to insure we know those who are doing their best to get us off of it. We do that by staying in God’s Word and seeking Him in all things through prayer. We live in a world that is growing more and more evil! Our only hope is to be diligent about our walk on the narrow way into His kingdom!

“Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
