Revelation 20:1-3, Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a while.

I want to take a few days to encourage each reader of this blog to walk closer to the Lord on the narrow way into His kingdom. There is a day coming when Jesus Christ will lock up the devil, the deceiver of all who follow their own sinful desires, into the bottomless pit; he will be locked up there for one thousand years. What does that mean?

When the Lord Jesus does that, He will establish His kingdom on earth. David Jeremiah describes this time as, “a transition between time and eternity, between the old earth and the new one, between momentary and the everlasting” (from his book, The Coming Golden Age). How long has man been looking for the perfect society? How many times have individuals tried to establish their version of a perfect society? Robert Owen tried, and his attempt did not last. The hippie movement of the 60s and 70s tried establishing communes, their idea of perfection and they did not last. Man’s attempt to create a world without problems has always failed!

Take a moment to consider a world as God created the Garden of Eden – a perfect world, where He walked and talked with Adam and Eve. It was a world free of sickness, war, fighting, crime, and all the terrible things experienced in the world today. Consider what your life would be like without all the temptations, worries, and anxieties that you face during your day. I guess the police could really be defunded; in reality, there would be no need for them at all because there would be no crime! What if you were not sick, or there was no more cancer or other illnesses, or your body was free from the aches and pains you experience? When the police are gotten rid of, let’s just get rid of the doctors as well! What would your day be like? What if this lasted for a week? Or a year? Or a thousand years?

Do you enjoy true worship, spending time singing and giving praise to the Lord? If so, imagine being with only people filled with the Holy Spirit, offering praise and worship to the One who enjoys receiving it! Can you imagine being where the Lord Jesus, King Jesus walks among His people, the entire world under His power and His authority. It will be a time of peace, prosperity, and the fulfillment of every promise God has made to Israel and to Believers in His Word.

It is a time after Jesus returns to defeat Satan and all who follow him in the Battle of Armageddon. It does not matter what you believe about the time leading up to this time regarding tribulation. King Jesus will return to imprison the enemy and establish this thousand- year reign. I want to look at it to encourage each Believer to walk with Jesus on the narrow way, looking forward to not only living in these thousand years, but for eternity!
