LEARNING DAILY

2 Thessalonians 2:10 “And in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing, they perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.”

This blog emphasizes the need, the importance of reading/studying/meditating on the Word of God each day. Every Believer needs to know what God demands of them as they walk the narrow way; 2 Timothy 3:16 tells the importance of knowing Scripture. Knowing  God’s Word will help keep the one who is not only reading it but studying it and applying it to their lives from being deceived. Proverbs 14:12 is a warning, “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end, it leads to death.” If you have not noticed deceptive ideas have become stronger and becoming normal in the world we live in. People are moving further away from the truth. I saw a headline yesterday that said only 30% of Christians read the Bible – I wonder how many of that group study and meditate on it. How can the Believer who does not read their Bible know the difference between truth and deception? The result is believing a lie and living in it.

George Orwell, the author of Animal Farm and 1984 wrote, “The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those who spoke it.” Do not be deceived by what the world is saying, be careful of turning away from the truth! Turning away from the truth is a serious matter that can lead one away from the way God has intended. The Bible is clear about the dangers of straying from His Word, from choosing to ignore the guidance and direction it gives. There is a lot of confusion that come from those who say they have a word from the Lord – be in the Word to see what it says! Believer there are serious consequences that our choices can have on our spiritual lives. It can also lead those misled back to truth.

“I am telling you this so no one will deceive you with well-crafted arguments” Colossians 2:4 (NLT). “Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ” Colossians 2:8 (NLT). Paul was warning Colossian Believers to not be fooled by “well-crafted arguments”. There were those in Paul’s time who were trying to not just fool or trick Believers into deception, they were being outright dishonest and lying to deceive them. Their arguments were based on anti-Christian’s principles and doctrine.

Satan’s tactics have not changed since he deceived Eve. He comes with the question, “Did God really say ___?” “Did God really mean ___?” He has gotten people – even Believers – to believe they can do anything they want, live anyway they want, they can sin, sin, sin now that they are “saved”. Because the flesh is weak, because people want to indulge their own desires, they believe this deception and live the way they want to. That is not what the Word of God says.

I encourage you, Believer, to read/study/meditate on the Word of God each day. Love the truth and walk the narrow way in obedience. Do not allow “the god of this world” [Satan] to tell you there is no need to be in God’s Word.
