LEARNING DAILY

Romans 10:17, So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (NKJV)

When a person believes it comes from hearing the Word of God. God send His representatives to preach the Word to give those who hear it an opportunity to believe it; those who call on His name will be saved. Faith comes from the Greek word pistis, which means “belief, trust, or confidence in someone or something.” Faith is the key to the book of Romans.

Why write about this today? I do not know where anyone who reads this is in their walk with Christ. For me I need to be in God’s Word daily (hearing the Word) to help my faith grow. Hearing the Word is not a guarantee that the person hearing will receive it. Many hear, today, and refuse to believe. May I suggest that one can receive the Word without audibly hearing it; one can read the Word and receive it by faith. Faith requires an active involvement with Jesus Christ. Being in God’s Word daily can help the Believer make it personal by not only reading it, but by studying and reflecting on it – doing so builds and strengthens the faith of the Believer who does so. Consider the importance of this. Faith requires knowledge and understanding. How can one have faith in something that they do not know and have some understanding about? Even with knowledge and understanding, the Believer’s faith becomes deeper as he/she opens their heart to receive what God’s Word has to say each day. The Bible is fresh and new each day to the Believer who opens it with a heart truly desiring to hear from God.

Hearing the Word of God helps Believers to understand the teachings, the promises, and the commands of Jesus. When the believer hears (reads) the Word of God, greater knowledge of God’s character, love, and faithfulness is gained so it can be applied to their life. Applying the truths of God’s Word can lead to a deeper faith. May I suggest that when one’s heart is stirred up and conviction sets in, one’s beliefs and actions are transformed. The message of God’s Word has the power to challenge, inspire, and encourage the Believer who takes the time daily to read/study/meditate on it; that leads to respond in faith and obedience.

My hope is that those who read this today are challenged to be in God’s Word daily, allowing it to encourage and direct your steps. It is certainly an investment to grow your faith.
