LEARNING DAILY

Genesis 6:5-6, Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.  And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.

Matthew 24:37-39, “The arrival of the Son of Man will take place in times like Noah’s.  Before the great flood everyone was carrying on as usual, having a good time up to the day Noah boarded the ark.  They knew nothing – until the flood hit and swept everything away.  (From the Message Bible).

A while back I wrote a page of the blog referencing what Jesus mentioned as the “days of Noah”.  Since that time, I have been thinking about that phrase and doing reading about what others have said about it.  I have been trying to answer if we are in the days of Noah.  I have concluded that we are without doubt in those days.

If you have been following this blog you might remember what the days of Noah were like.  They were full of wickedness, sexual perversion, violence, hatred for one another; they were very evil days.  The “intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually”.  Remember the account in Genesis tells us that Noah was the only one God had found to be righteous.  Genesis 6:9 says that Noah walked with God.  The Bible does not say that Noah was without sin.  He was a man of integrity, who was blameless and of high moral character.  This is found in his lineage – Enoch, his great grandfather, walked with God and God took him.  Noah’s challenge to be this kind of man is certainly every Believer’s challenge today!  Like Noah, every Believer is to live in this godless world without being consumed by the sin in it.

The days of Noah may give us a glimpse of what the days will be like when Jesus returns for His true Church.  Depending on the scholar you read, it took Noah between 100 and 120 years to build the ark.  During those years people chose to ignore the warnings about what was to come.  Yes, they did not know what rain was so they could not understand what a flood was either.  They continued to eat, drink, pursuing relationships and every form of evil their minds thought of.  They gave absolutely no thought to their Creator and gave no indication of desiring a relationship with Him.

Sound familiar?  The people of this time were pretty self-absorbed.  All they seemed to care about was themselves and what brought them happiness and pleasure.  We do this today. Let’s push God away from our thoughts because if any thought or consideration is given to Him…  Well, if we consider Him, we have to consider other issues such as morality, right and wrong, good and evil, and heaven and hell.  I have to think about accepting Him or denying Him.  Of course, if I decide to follow Him, He might send me some place in Africa to be a missionary.  Jeff Kinney thinks to even consider the thoughts above is to consider having to give up being in charge of your own life.  So, it is better to just ignore what we know about God and to just forget about Him.   That is the choice all of has to make.  I suggest to you that many have decided to just forget about Him and try to make life difficult for those of us who have chosen to follow Him.

Stay with me as I try to correctly share what the Bible has to say about the days we are living in.  Let me tell you that there may be difficult things to read; some have been more difficult to write than others.  I am trying to be obedient to what I believe the Lord is directing me to do.  I believe this is a warning for each of us.  It is time for us to get our life in spiritual order and draw closer to the lord, to walk carefully with Him.   Hunger and thirst for righteousness (Matthew 5:6) and to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33-34).  Keep your eyes looking up and your ears open in order to hear the trumpet sound that calls us to Him.
