LEARNING DAILY

John 16:33, “These things I have spoken to you that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer I have overcome the world.”   Jesus

Today I have the proverbial good news/bad news thought for you.  The good news is that in Jesus all Believers find peace.  We find peace because He has overcome the world.  Sandwiched between the good news Jesus tells us there will be tribulations in the world for His followers.  The Greek (thlipsis) meaning here for tribulation is pressure, especially the pressures that come when we are identified with Jesus in the world.  I bring this up today as an introduction to the pages of the blog that are to be written.

Karl Marx wrote the Communist Manifesto in 1848 and a three-volume writing called Das Kapital.  In his writing he described religion as the “opiate of the people”; he believed religion created a feeling of false happiness, a contentment, or a numbness to reality. Since his writing came out those who have promoted revolution have attempted to remove religion from their movement.  In the Soviet Union under Lenin and Stalin, in China under Mao Tse Tung, and in Nazi Germany the only religion allowed was the religion of the state.  All other religions were not allowed and those who did not stop their worship were severely persecuted; over a hundred million people have been killed in the name of social justice.  Be sure to remember that term.  Oh, by the way, the name of the political and economic philosophy was socialism.  Those who have tried to implement some form of Marx’s teaching have always used totalitarian oppression to subdue those within their control.

We are about to swear into office a political philosophy that has been very outspoken about their desire to eliminate religion from this country.  It has been a very slow movement that began in the 1960s to remove God from the public school system.  We have seen this agenda pass legislation to allow abortion on demand which now allows the killing of a baby outside of the womb.  We have seen the definition of a man and a woman become blurred.  I was filling out an application to donate blood and had three choices to check regarding gender – man, woman, and unknown.  Really?!!  And we have seen the God-ordained marriage between a man and a woman changed.  Oh God have mercy on us as Believers for not speaking up against this!

Make no mistake that this concept that religion must be eliminated is coming!  Bill Mahar, a pro-left commentator and comedian, has said, “Religion must die in order for mankind to live.” In other words, religion is a threat to the human race; no doubt this goes back to the writing of Marx.  You can bet your house that this sentiment is held by many in the left side of the political spectrum.  The Progressive Movement is nothing more than the desire to replace our present form of government with socialism.  Part of that process includes removing dependence on God to dependance on the god of government.

Let’s make this a little closer to home, where I live.  On November 5, 2017 a gunman walked into the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas and killed twenty-six people and wounded twenty more.  Their ages ranged from five to seventy-two.  Prayers were asked at our nation’s capital for the people of this community.  The request was laughed at and mocked by many.  One person said, “They were praying at the time and prayer did not help them.” And there were many other ridiculous things said.  Christianity is going to be attacked from all directions because the true Believer’s allegiance is to God and His teachings.

Tribulations are coming.  Choices will need to be made regarding who you will follow.  That’s why the Lord Jesus told us He has overcome the world.  We do not need to fear!  But we do need to place our trust and our hope in the Lord Jesus.  Enter the narrow way through Him, the narrow gate and walk with Him on the narrow way that leads to eternity in heaven.  But, be careful of the false prophets and those who want to deceive you into believing there is no hope unless you follow the god of government through the evil socialist philosophy.

Stay with me as we begin to examine what the Bible says about some difficult passages of Scripture.  We are seeing some really interesting times unfolding before us.
