 LEARNING DAILY

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit; Born of the Virgin Mary; Suffered under Pontius Pilate; Was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into Hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven; And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; The Holy Christian Church, the Communion of Saints; The forgiveness of sins; The Resurrection of the body; And the life everlasting. Amen.   The Apostle’s Creed

1 Corinthians 15:42-44, So also is the resurrection of the dead.  The body is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory.  It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power.  It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body.  There is a natural body and a spiritual body.

1 Corinthians 15:51-52, Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed – in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.  For a trumpet will sound and, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

The resurrection of the body has been debated throughout time.  There are those who believe there is nothing after death, no resurrection.  As Christians, our belief is that those who have died, those who are asleep will someday be raised from their grave to be united with their soul and spirit which are in heaven.  This is based on the promises of Jesus – He was raised from the dead and because He was, those who follow Him shall also be raised.  Remember He is going to judge the living and the dead.

Believers shall receive a new body.  While alive the body was sinful; Paul called it corrupt, dishonorable, weak.  But as a resurrected body, it shall be incorruptible, glorious, and powerful.  Consider the Scripture about Jesus in His resurrected body.  He was recognized; He ate and fellowshipped with people.  Since we are talking about eternity, this body must never die nor age.  In my mind I see this resurrected body having more energy, endurance, strength, and the physical ability to do anything.  Think of what that means to those with physical limitations!  Think of those with mental difficulties; they will be healthy and active!  The blind will see and the lame will walk and run.  We will be what God created us to be when He created the Garden of Eden.

We will put on immortality to become all God intended us to be in that Garden.  Then we will know God in the full way He desires us to know Him.  Then God can express His love to us as He desires to.

One last thing.  Those who are alive when Christ returns for those who have died will experience the same transformation as those who have died before the day of resurrection.  They will never experience physical death.  If you believe this, your way of life will reflect it; when it does not you must pray 1 John 1:9 (Refer to the last page of the blog.).  The walk on the narrow way all works together!

Revelation 22:20, He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly!” Amen.  Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
