LEARNING DAILY
Hebrews 13:8, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
David Wilkerson wrote the following, “This book (the Bible) tells me
who God is. It describes His attributes,
nature, promise, and judgments. It is
His rule of law, from His own mouth, by which He rules and reigns. And it is a Word to which He has bound
Himself.” He went on, “God rules and
judges everything before Him according to the eternal law – that is, His own
established Word. When the Lord makes a ruling, He speaks by His living Word, a
Word to which He has bound Himself.”
The unchangeableness of God and Jesus Christ is seen throughout
Scriptures. What does it mean? He can be trusted to do what He has said He
will do. He does not make a different
set of rules or standards to live by for different groups of people or for
different generations of people. In the David
Jeremiah Study Bible, he has stated, “Christians can trust God to
save them, provide for them, and enable them to preserve to the end.”
Hebrews 13:6, So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my Helper; I will
not fear. What can man do to me?” No matter how limited my earthly resources
are or how difficult my circumstances seem to be, I know God will never leave
me by myself; He has committed Himself to be with me (all Believers) during
their journey on the narrow way. That
was His promise to Joshua (1:5) and the promise becomes even greater through
Jesus Christ and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Because of this all believers can say the Lord is my Helper and I will
not be afraid.
The Lord promised to be with Joshua as He took the possession of the
Promised Land. He was with Daniel in the
Lion’s Den. He was with David as He
faced Goliath and was chased by Saul. He
was with the Apostle Paul throughout His travels and the many Christians killed
in the Roman Coliseum.
Because of what we can read in His Word, we can believe the truth that
God, the Father, Jesus Christ, the Son do not change and that provides
an answer to our faith. I wonder if we have
forgotten that the power we have as Christians is not material or political
power – it is spiritual power. God’s
kingdom is not meant to reform this country or the world through social or
political activism, not even through violent actions. This world will remain an enemy of God and
His followers until His judgment occurs at the end of the age.
Because God does not change, you and I can know and believe He is
still on His throne, still in charge, and still with Believers today. That means I respect a virus called Covid-19,
but I do not fear it. It means I live
within the means God has provided for me and help others in the way He leads me
to. It means I can be content with what
I have. It means I do whatever I can to
further His kingdom even in the face of opposition. It means whatever I do I can know He is with
Me; I can agree with the Psalmist when he said, “The Lord is my Helper, and I will not fear.” (Psalm 118:6).
Consider, today, the goodness of knowing
that God never changes. Because of that
you can trust Him to do just what He has said He would do.
