 LEARNING DAILY

This was to go out yesterday.  I do not know why it did not.  Read it as if it was Monday.

Mark 16:6, But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed.  You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified.  He is risen!  He is not here.  See the place where they laid Him.”

The High Priest and Scribes thought that Jesus was dead when He was placed in the tomb and rolled the stone in front of the opening.  They placed guards in front of the tomb to be sure His disciples would not remove the body.  All for nothing!  They were wrong.  Jesus rose from the dead just as He said and everything changed!

Friday was the day Jesus hung on a cross.  It was a day determined by God, the Father.  It was a day His Son came into the world to face – alone.  His disciples had left Him and now as He hung there the sins of the world were place upon Him; they were your sins and my sins.  As that happened even the Father turned away from Him and He asked, “My God, My God why have You forsaken Me?”  It was a cup He had to take; only the Perfect Lamb of God could do it.

But that was Friday.  Sunday came and Mary found the tomb empty.  Even though Jesus had told everyone that He would rise in three days, no one really understood it.

The resurrection is a central truth of the gospel; the resurrection on Jesus Christ proves He is the Son of God!  It guarantees His death to redeem you and me from our sinfulness had meaning.  1 Corinthians 15:17, “And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.”  The presence of Christ and His power over sin is available in our everyday experience with God. It is important as a foundation for Christ to send the Holy Spirit to help with the spiritual life of those who believe in Him.  Remember Jesus said He had to go the Father but He would not leave the disciples (including us) alone.  It proves that we will also be resurrected – either by the rapture or at the time of our death.  In John 14:19 Jesus said, ‘A little longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me.  Because I live, you will live also.”

I found a box of books I had read by Max Lucado.  In his book Six Hours One Day, I found a really great story where Jesus and His Father were talking about the temptation to drink the cup of sin offered by the devil.  The Father tells the Son that each person must decide for themselves whether to drink from that cup or to say no to drinking from it.  Later it is Jesus asking if He has to drink from it only to be told He must in order to place the plan of salvation before every person.  He does and the Father, who cannot look upon sin turns from the Son.  Read what Max Lucado writes at this point in the story:

“Father . . . “, the Son begins.  The King replays the word again.  Father.  Father.

The word was a flower, a petal-delicate, yet so easily crushed.  Oh, how he longed for

His children to call him Father again.

A noise snapped him from his dream.  He opens His eyes and sees a transcendent

figure gleaming in the doorway.  “It is finished, Father.  I have come home.”

It was Sunday.  Jesus had finished His work on the cross and He was no longer in the grave.  The redemption of mankind had been accomplished, and now, each person has a choice to make.  What do you do with the resurrection of Jesus Christ?
