LEARNING DAILY

Hebrews 2:1, Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard lest we drift away.

The purpose for this blog is to encourage and keep me and anyone who reads it focused on God’s Word and staying on the narrow way to God’s kingdom and eternal life.  If I am not careful, I drift.  I get off course and drift into waters I do not want to be in, waters I don’t understand.  This verse is a warning for us to be diligent in our Christian walk.  It is warning us that if we are not diligent, we find ourselves somewhere other than on the narrow path.  Be careful about being complacent in your journey to God’s kingdom.  Do not let a day go by without consulting your compass, God’s Word.  We must pay careful attention to what “we have heard”, to what we have read, to what we have committed to when accept Christ as our Savior; we must go further and make Him Lord of our life.

The writer of Hebrews emphasizes that those of us who have experienced the Salvation of Jesus Christ must not be careless with our commitment to Him.  If we are not careful the birds of the air pluck up the seeds of salvation or the cares of the world choke the commitment, we make to Him.  The writer urges all who profess Christ as their Savior to take serious Christ’s teaching.  The danger in not doing so, is to drift; neglect and apathy can be fatal.

Too often we hear that making Jesus Christ your Savior and Lord is the end of all your problems.  Is there anyone reading this who has found this to be true?  I certainly have not.  Do not chase the messages coming from the world that promise success, prosperity, hope in this or that.  It is not a new message, a message that tickles our ears that we trust in.  No!  We must trust in the time-test truths of God’s Word that are not destroyed by the winds of change.  Be diligent about your walk with Jesus Christ.  The winds of change, of a new direction, of hope and trust in the government and its leaders are blowing.  If we are careless, and neglect the Word of God, we will be deceived.

You must not be dependent on someone else’s faith.  Be encouraged by the faith of others.  Learn from other.  But, develop your own in order to stand strong on your own faith.  Perhaps, the day will come when you cannot borrow from the faith of others; you may have to face unknown winds on your own.  When you do, remember Jesus has promised to “never leave you nor forsake you!”

May your walk on the narrow way, be one filled with hope, excitement, encouragement as you diligent seek God’s kingdom.  Place it before everything else!  Hunger and thirst for His righteousness that your course to His kingdom may be straight and true.  It is such an exciting journey for all who are on it!
